J-PACE Rumors – New Flagship Crossover?

March 29th, 2019 by

For our Jaguar customers who have enjoyed the addition of crossover vehicles to the Jaguar line-up, combining Jaguar comforts with crossover utility, there may be another newcomer to the line-up. Rumor has it that Jaguar is working on another crossover named the J-PACE, which is expected to be larger than any of the current crossover available from Jaguar.

Expected to be built on the new, all-aluminum MLA platform from Jaguar-Land Rover, the vehicle should be lighter and better utilize vehicle space. One of the other reasons for this, according to a report from Autocar, is that the J-PACE will utilize electrically driven rear-wheels, while the front wheels will still be driven by the engine. By removing the need for an extended drivetrain and other mechanical parts, the J-PACE will have increased passenger and cargo space.

Now, looking at Jaguar’s sedan lineup, we can make a few guesstimates as to how the J-PACE will compare to its fellow crossovers; the sedan lineup from smallest to largest includes the XE, XF, and finally XJ as the largest sedan in their lineup, as well as the most luxurious. Should Jaguar continue that trend, although the F-PACE is the current best-selling crossover for Jaguar, the J-PACE will likely become the flagship: Showcasing the best technologies, most comfortable ride, incredible performance, and everything else you’d expect from a top of the line, flagship vehicle.

Word on the street is also that this vehicle will be a plug-in hybrid, and although it shares a platform with the boxier Land Rover, will instead have a sleeker design similar to the I-PACE. Let us know if you’re excited about the prospect of an even larger crossover available in the Jaguar lineup!
